God bless the U.S.A

"Need a gun?"
"Yeah."
"Need a scooter?"
"Totally."
Then head on over to the gun shack! The only place (not counting Mississippi) where you can get all the guns and scooters you need, all in one handy location!
* Tell 'em Bubba sent ya' an' get 10 percent off.

*while supplies last.

Do not try this at home

Most people would simply read sign, walk away(without putting feet on wall).
Not Gregory. No sirree. He is well and truly a dare-devil. Risk-taker. Reckless. Foolhardy even.
Look what happened to the last poor soul to 'put feet on wall'.
Another example of what 'putting feet on wall' could do to you.
*sigh* some people never learn, do they?

Medieval Times, Florida

After sailing around the Bahamas, Gregory, Felicity, and Eva went to Medieval Times in Florida.
Knights...
in shining armor.
Felicity and a tiny crown.Eva and a large crown. Silly girls!
Beautiful horses.Real knights.
One of the knights gave Felicity this flower.

Sweeeet 16!

Happy Birthday, Felicity!
That looks like a .... KEY!to a new car!
You look great.Trinity does a little happy dance.
Happy sweet 16th, Felicity.* Love you*

cute nest

I bought some hanging baskets a few weeks weeks ago, and guess what?
A little bird liked them so much, she made a nest! The kids loved to peek inside the flower basket and see if the eggs had hatched. The little birds were so cute. Unfortunately, I waited too long to take a picture of the birds, and they have now moved on.

Fiddlehead salad

I have always wanted to try fiddleheads, ever since I read the kids "Trolls" by Polly Horvath.
I finally got some, and made them into a delicious salad with tomatoes, garlic, Dijon mustard, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt & pepper.
The whole meal was steak, crab, salad, bread, and roast potatoes.

Odyssey of the mind

Heather joined "Odyssey of the Mind" at school this year. It is an enrichment program for children, where the kids have to problem solve, and perform a skit and compete against other schools. There were two teams from Queen of Angels School.
Heather and her friend, Corrie, on the ferry to Vancouver for the competition.
Are you girls excited?Hey! No jumping on the bed!
A quick dip in the hotel pool before bed.
Good times.Heather (far right-with Bunny) and her team.
Put your thinking caps on, kids!
It was a great trip. Heather's team came in second, and the other team from their school came in first place! Wow! I am so proud of you guys. The first place team then went on to the world finals in Iowa, where they competed against teams from all over the world, including Poland , China, Korea, Hong Kong, etc.

Grace's Golden Goodness Cake

Grace totally made up her own recipe for this cake. All by herself. I was a bit(O.K. a lot) worried that the cake would be awful - sort of like the "Strawberry Surprise" Felicity tried to make when she was only 3 years old. *shudder* I had nothing to worry about. This is a great cake. And it really goes well with whipped cream and strawberries. (Felicity, I hope you were paying attention!)Doesn't this look delicious? The kids had this for breakfast, as Grace made the cake just before bedtime the night before. How is it, Emma?
Thanks for breakfast, it was amazing, Grace!

Feeding the ducks

Here we are at Quamichan Lake, which is quite close to the school.
Show us how it's done, Gracie. Some of the other kids (party-poopers, if you ask me!) decided to stay in the van and read.
Look behind you Trinity.
"A swan can break a man's arm, you know." Has anyone else read 'Adrian Mole Weapons of Mass Destruction'? No? Never mind, then.

Happy Easter

Easter morning is always so great.Chocolate bunnies for breakfast!
Trinity looks very elegant in her new scarf. She is all ready for church.Trinity and Grace are checking out all the pretty Easter eggs. Auntie Zaza sent a really cool Ukrainian decorating package for the eggs.
Thank you Auntie Zaza.
Aren't they nice?

Happy birthday, Thomas

Thomas is eleven years old!
Wow, Tom, you sure are surrounded by a lot of girls! 6 sisters and your cousin Emma!
We had a family birthday party for Thomas, since his birthday was the day before Easter, but a few weeks later he had a rather chaotic party here with some school friends.
Thomas got some Star Wars Lego sets. As a result, Thomas spent the next week or so in his room, building everything.
